At Beam, we focus on strengths, possibilities and practical strategies rather than labels or limitations. Our multidisciplinary team also enables our psychologists to collaborate with Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Behaviour Support Practitioners where helpful, creating a more connected approach to your care.

Areas of Support
Mental Health
Mental health can influence how we think, feel and respond to life’s challenges. At times, you may notice increased worry, low mood, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty concentrating, or feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities.
Our adult psychologists provide a safe, confidential space to explore what’s happening for you. Together, we focus on practical strategies that support emotional wellbeing, strengthen resilience and help you feel more confident as you navigate life in ways that align with your values.
Depression and Low Mood
Periods of low mood can affect motivation, relationships, work and enjoyment of everyday life. Our psychologists support adults experiencing depression, burnout or a sense of feeling stuck by helping you better understand your experiences and reconnect with what matters to you.
Using approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we work with you to develop realistic coping strategies, rebuild confidence and move towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Anxiety and Stress
Anxiety and ongoing stress can feel exhausting and may affect sleep, concentration, decision-making and relationships. Our psychologists help you understand the patterns contributing to worry or overwhelm and develop practical tools to manage stress more effectively.
Support may include strategies to regulate emotions, work with unhelpful thinking patterns and build confidence in responding to difficult or uncertain situations.
Trauma
Experiences of trauma can continue to influence how you feel, think and respond long after an event has passed. Our adult psychologists provide a supportive, respectful environment where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.
We use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, reduce distress and help you develop a greater sense of stability, safety and control. Telehealth sessions are also available for flexibility and comfort.
Emotional Regulation
Strong emotions can sometimes feel difficult to understand or manage, particularly during periods of stress or change. Our psychologists work with you to better understand your emotional patterns and develop strategies that support calmer, more confident responses.
This may include building self-awareness, developing practical coping skills and strengthening your ability to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively.
Life Transitions and Identity
Major life changes, such as career shifts, relationship changes, relocation or personal growth, can bring uncertainty and raise questions about what comes next. Our psychologists support adults in reflecting on their values, identity and goals, helping you navigate change with greater clarity and confidence.
Together, we explore what matters most to you and develop strategies to support decision-making, self-understanding and a stronger sense of direction.
Neurodiversity Support (ADHD, Autism, etc.)
Adults who identify as neurodivergent, including people with ADHD or Autism, may experience differences in attention, organisation, communication or sensory processing. Our neuroaffirming psychologists recognise and value neurodiversity, focusing on understanding your individual experiences and strengths rather than trying to change who you are.
We provide practical strategies, therapy and coaching to support areas such as daily routines, workplace confidence, relationships, emotional wellbeing and self-understanding in ways that respect your individual needs and experiences.
Behaviour
At times, patterns such as impulsivity, anger, avoidance or difficulty managing stress can affect relationships, work or overall wellbeing. Our psychologists take a supportive, non-judgemental approach to understanding what may be contributing to these patterns.
Together, we develop practical strategies that build insight, strengthen emotional regulation and support positive, sustainable change.
Alcohol & Other Drug Support
Alcohol or other substance use can sometimes become a way of coping with stress, trauma or emotional challenges. Our psychologists provide respectful, non-judgemental support to help you explore your relationship with substances and consider strategies that support your wellbeing.
Using approaches such as motivational interviewing, we work collaboratively to strengthen coping skills, explore behaviour change and support you towards a healthier balance that aligns with your goals and values.

FAQs
How much does it cost to see a psychologist?
Fees vary depending on the appointment type and clinician. Many adults accessing a psychologist may be eligible for support through Medicare, NDIS or private health insurance. For detailed pricing, funding options and rebates, please visit our Fees page or contact our team.
Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
No referral is required to book an appointment with one of our adult psychologists. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan or Chronic Condition Management Plan from your GP. Your GP can help determine eligibility.
Can I get a Medicare rebate for psychology sessions?
If you have a referral and Mental Health Care Treatment from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates when seeing an eligible psychologist. Rebates may also be available through private health insurance, depending on your level of cover.
What happens in the first psychology session?
Your first session with a psychologist is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like support with. We will cover important information such as consent and confidentiality, and take time to understand your goals, experiences and preferences. Sessions are guided at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.
How many sessions will I need with a psychologist?
The number of psychology sessions varies depending on your goals and individual circumstances. Some adults find short-term therapy helpful, while others benefit from ongoing support. Your psychologist will work collaboratively with you to create a plan that feels appropriate and achievable.
Do you offer telehealth psychology appointments?
Yes. We offer secure telehealth appointments with psychologists, including initial sessions. Telehealth allows you to access psychological support from home or another comfortable environment, making it easier to connect with a psychologist near you.
What age groups do your psychologists support?
Our adult psychologists support young adults, adults and older adults experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges, life transitions and personal development goals. If you are seeking support for children or teens, please visit our Psychology for Children & Teens page.
How long are psychology sessions?
Standard psychology sessions are typically around 50 minutes, though session length may vary depending on your needs and goals. Your psychologist will discuss options with you to ensure sessions provide meaningful and practical support.
Is information shared with a psychologist confidential?
Yes. Psychologists follow strict professional and ethical guidelines to protect your privacy. Personal information, session notes and assessment outcomes are stored securely and treated confidentially. Information will only be shared with consent or where legally required. These limits are explained clearly in your first session.
Is psychology covered under the NDIS?
Beam is a registered NDIS provider for supports, including Improved Daily Living and Improved Relationships. If you have NDIS funding, your plan may include access to a psychologist where clinically appropriate. We also welcome privately funded clients and can help you understand available options.
