April is a PACFA Registered Counsellor with a passion for supporting children and adults who have experienced trauma – including domestic and family violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect.
April has furthered her knowledge through training in play therapy, trauma informed care, providing culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and in supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community.
April has worked with children, young people and families for over a decade in different capacities including counselling, statutory child protection, out of home care, young people in alternative care arrangements, youth work and more.
April aims to be educated and inclusive, in order to support all people in a personalised matter. April utilises play therapy, motivational interviewing and person centered approaches to motivate change and create positive outcomes for children and families.
April is a fierce advocate for social justice, women’s’ right and child safety. Outside of work, April loves travelling, bushwalks, the beach and singing really badly in the car.
