Shayla is a Speech Pathologist who graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) in 2025. Throughout her studies, Shayla completed placements across a range of settings including primary schools, preschools, private clinics, a medical centre, hospital and aged care. She also spent time working in Indigenous communities, which was a deeply rewarding experience that strengthened her understanding of culturally responsive and trauma-informed care. Shayla enjoys working primarily with children while also supporting individuals across the lifespan. Shayla is passionate about supporting individuals to communicate in ways that are meaningful to them and ensuring every person’s voice is heard through functional communication. She has a particular interest in language acquisition and its connection to behaviour, and enjoys working alongside families using a holistic, evidence-based approach. She values collaboration with families and other allied health professionals to support positive and practical outcomes.

Outside of work, Shayla enjoys spending time with her partner and their dog, cooking, and camping.
